INTRODUCTION
Iris Recognition is a Biometric Technology which deals with identification based on the human Iris.

It is considered to be the most accurate biometric technology available today.

IT USES CCD CAMERA DISTANCE BETWEEN CAMERA AND EYE IS 20CM TO 50 CM MINIMUN RESOLUTION OF CAMERA IS 640X 480

PREPROCESSING

In pre-processing stage, edge detection is used to enhance iris outer boundary that is not recognized well in normal conditions, and a multiplier function is used to enhance iris points, also image contrast adjustment is performed to make its pixels brighter.

EDGE DETECTION
EDGE IS BOUNDARY BETWEEN TWO REGIONS WITH DIFFFERENT GRAY LEVEL MAGNITUDE OF 1st DERIVATIVE OF GRAY LEVEL IS USED TO DETECT EDGE SIGN OF 2nd DERIVATIVE IS USED TO FIND WHETHER EDGE PIXEL LIES ON DARK SIDE OR BRIGHT SIDE LAPLACIAN AND GRADIENT ARE USED FOR THIS PURPOSE

IT IS USED TO GET UNIFORM INTENSITY IT IS DONE BY HISTOGRAM EQUALISATION

The main purpose of segmentation stage is to localize the two iris boundaries IT USES DAUGMAN INTEGRO DIFFERENTIAL OPERATOR

CONCLUSION
IT GIVES AN OPPURTUNITY TO STUDY AND UNDERSTAND IMAGE PROCESSING USING MATLAB AND EXPLORE THE PATTERN RECOGNITION AREA OF PATTERN RECOGNITION RANGES FROM BIOMETRIC RECOGNITION TO TEST THE QUALITY OF CROPS IT HAS ENHANCED OUR LEARNING
