It is without reservation that I recommend Morgan McCandless for employment as an elementary teacher. I have had the privilege of getting to know Ms. McCandless over the past two academic year; her contributions to Appalachian State have been unmatched. Morgan has shown that she makes her academics a top priority, being recognized on both the Deans and Chancellors List multiple times and being invited to join Kappa Delta Pi, a national education academic honor society. I first met Morgan as a student in CI 3538, Seeing the World Through Mathematics during the Fall of the 20122013 academic year. I had the opportunity to work with Morgan again during the Fall semester of the 2013-14 academic year when she was a student in CI4030 Teaching Math in Elementary School. During both classes, Ms. McCandless academic work was exceptional in terms of substance, mechanics, and reflectiveness. Ms. McCandless revealed a solid work ethic accentuated by a positive attitude toward classroom challenges. Classroom assignments were submitted in a timely manner and reflected a great deal of care and attention in terms of quality. In the classroom, Morgan displayed a positive and enthusiastic attitude toward classroom tasks. Ms. McCandless embraced the qualities of a positive role model. Personal observations made during required field placement experiences revealed Ms. McCandless ability to function independently and make productive personal decisions. During her field placement experience, Morgan demonstrated professionalism, commitment to personal growth, and a willingness to engage herself in the day-today activities of the classroom, enriching not only her experience but also the experience of the children in her assigned classroom. Ms. McCandless integrity, knowledge, proficiency and commitment to children, strongly suggest that she will serve as a positive influence in the academic setting. Ms. McCandless is most deserving of your consideration. Sincerely,
