Study & Review the Lesson Before the Session

Read and study the lesson before each session This will ensure that you will have a healthy and engaging dialogue. Will enable you to answer questions. In addition to reading the lesson, support the meeting if necessary with additional content from the Bible or from the Wednesday and Sunday service material.

Weekly Checklist & Tracking Form

Serves as a guide for how to conduct a Teacher-Disciple session Record any important information that may need to be brought to the attention of the Discipleship Leadership team. Complete the weekly check list form each week to ensure that you (the Teacher) have addressed the main needs of the session. Cover the essential areas (see next slide for details). Although there will be a structure for the meetings, we do not want the session to be totally mechanical. So in addition to this guide, allow the Holy Spirit to assist you in determining what else could be added as your relationship with the Disciple matures.

Conducting a Teacher-Disciple Session

Start the Session with Prayer - By praying at the start of the session you acknowledge God and give Him first-place in the relationship. It elevates, honors and allows God to get involved with the meeting to ensure that it is a productive session for both the Teacher and Disciple. Ask the Disciple if they Need any Specific Prayer This step is important because it indirectly tells the Disciple that you are concerned about their needs. Also this step is important because if the Disciple is struggling with something, you have an opportunity to take it before the Lord to neutralize the issue, so that it will not distract the Disciple during the session. Discuss the Lesson & Quiz (if applicable) This step is critical because it addresses one of the primary goals of the program, which is to make sure the Disciple understands the basic fundamentals of Christianity. The lesson will serve as the common area for both the Teacher and Disciple to connect. Encourage the Disciple to Ask Questions Ask the Disciple if they have any questions about the lesson or quiz. Ask open ended questions to provoke conversation. Confirm the Next Meeting Time This is important because it will create anticipation and expectation for the next session. Finish the Session with Prayer Honor God and thank the Lord for the session and for the opportunity to pour into the life of the Disciple. Allow the Holy Spirit to direct you in the prayer as you close out the session.

Tips for Teachers & Disciples

The Tips for Teachers & Disciples Checklist are simple reminders that will help both the Teacher and Disciple remain in a healthy state of mind. A healthy state of mind or a Renewed Mind will prepare and position the:
Teacher to make a mark in the life of the Disciple that cannot be erased. Disciple to receive from the Teacher and the Goodness of God. Which will make a mark in their lives that cannot be erased.

As a Christian you should always be in a position to advance the Kingdom of God, thus consider the simple reminders on the next slide during your walk in the program.
