Lighting; Gow school pedestrian bridge will receive for the electrical power generated by the solar system

will work towards powering the lighting for the bridge. We plan to make one investment in the beginning and there will be no other expense.

Geotechnical; Soil type at the pedestrian bridge site will greatly influence the design of the bridge abutments according to ASTM D1557. Different bridge abutment designs will need to be analysed for each alternative based on the weight of the bridge, but also from the type of soil present at the site. For an unheated building during winter, interior footings are to be at same depth/elevation as exterior footings, we checked value in appendix D. Foundations would bear at a relative elevation of four feet. A four foot minimum footing depth, required by New York State code, is required to provide adequate protection from frost for exterior foundations. Soil improvement beneath footing would be necessary and would require a dewatering system to be in place during construction. In our soil sample, GRAIN SIZE ANALYSIS ASTM D-421/D-422, result is, 11.8 gravel, 71.3 Sand and 16.9 silt and clay We used footing thickness 1 foot and final grade assumed to be 0.5 feet below finished floor elevation. Factor of safety in our design is 3, exterior wall footing, B = 3 ft., depth of footing below final grade Df = 4ft. And theoretical net allowable bearing capacity for non-plastic granular soil q(allowable) = 7,607 psf.
