n be a hard topic in todays public education system. With so many different religions and families who are not at all religious it can be very easy to offend others with the musical selections a choir is performing. This resource can be used to help defend the choice to use sacred music in a public school choral program. In my opinion it is important to include musical repertoire of many different ages and cultures. To me this also includes music of different religions. It is also important to recognize that this country has been founded on Christianity and that many American songs have a religious background. It would be nearly impossible to perform only secular music, and would be truly impossible to provide a truly well rounded education to the students doing so. Nearly all music from the Medieval and Renaissance ages in sacred. We should not ignore such an important part of the history of western music simply because some might be offended. It is important to educate the audience so that they can understand why certain selections were made and that they were not chosen simply because they were sacred or spoke of God. This resource can help to advocate for the use of sacred music in schools. It can help to educate administration that cutting such an important part of music out of a program can really detract from creating a true comprehensive musicianship program. This website will be extremely useful for me in these ways.
