The driver, identied as 28 year old Elizabeth Kruger of Evergreen Park, intentionally collided her vehicle into an on-coming vehicle traveling east bound on 79th St at New England. After this collision, Kruger left the scene and traveled south bound on New England. The o!cer located a vehicle matching the description of the o"ending vehicle in the area of 83rd and New England. The o!cer activated his emergency lights and siren but the o"ending vehicle began to accelerate away from the o!cer. The driver; who refused to stop for the o!cer and several tra!c control devices, entered into the intersection of 87th St. and New England subsequently striking a vehicle traveling east bound. The o"ending vehicle continued south bound colliding with a house in the 6900 block W. 87th Street. Both drivers of the victim vehicles were injured with one being treated and released from Christ Hospital while the other remains admitted but recovering from her serious injuries. The occupants of the residence were unharmed. In interviews with witnesses and statements made by Kruger, it was learned she wanted to commit suicide by striking another vehicle and knowing that doing so would have ended the life of her infant. Since the rst collision failed in her attempt, she continued until she again caused another collision on 87th Street and New England.

Both Kruger and her child were brought to Christ Hospital. Kruger was treated and released while the child remains in Christ for observation but is listed in good condition. DCFS has been notied of the circumstance of the incident and are in the process of devising a safety plan for the child with other family.
