Scenario

You have been selected to be part of the acting company for the Artistic Shadows Theatre Company. The Company is intending to stage a Summer Showcase event which will comprise a combination of live music performances and short plays. As an actor you are expected to work with the Artistic Director on developing the theme for the showcase and prepare, rehearse and perform three pieces of drama: one individual monologue, one paired duologue and a group ensemble performance of a short play to be presented to a live audience.

Task 1

The first task focuses on the rehearsal process where you are expected to explore, develop and prepare your 3 productions for performance. You should start with a wide range of options and using guidance, direction and reflection to narrow you choices to the final three. Each grade criteria requires you to tackle different skills within four key areas: Rehearsal Skills, Management, Acting Skills and Interpretation. You must cover all of these aspects to achieve each grade. To achieve 2B.P3 you must: Rehearsal skills Demonstrated through a Rehearsal Schedule in your logbook: learning dialogue learning blocking and stage directions Management Demonstrated through a Rehearsal Schedule in your logbook: attendance time management (adhering to rehearsal schedules) readiness to work (including bringing correct clothing and equipment if necessary) Acting Skills Video Recording of key rehearsal sessions and written reflection in your Logbook. remembering lines remembering moves To achieve 2B.M3 you must do all of the above and: Rehearsal skills 2

Task 2

You must complete your rehearsal process and deliver your final three performance pieces to a live audience. You will be assessed on both your technical & dress rehearsal and final performance. Again each grade criteria requires you to tackle different skills within four key areas: Rehearsal Skills, Management, Acting Skills and Interpretation. You must cover all of these aspects to achieve each grade. To achieve 2B.P4 you must: Rehearsal skills To be demonstrated through an observation by your assessor during your technical and dress rehearsal: relaxation Management Demonstrated through the completion of a Health & Safety checklist in the Logbook prior to rehearsal: observing safe working practices Interpretation Demonstrated through a video recording and assessment of your final performance to a live audience: handling and use of props, the set, costume, makeup and masks. interaction with, and response to, other performers Acting Skills Demonstrated through a video recording and assessment of your final performance to a live audience: Use of voice clarity and articulation projection Use of movement gesture facial expression.
