3 March 2014 Re: Field Trip to Gardens By The Bay Eco Explorers Dear Year 3 Parents and Guardians, During our Unit of Inquiry, Sharing the Planet, we are studying the central idea, Organisms in an ecosystem rely on each other for survival. Our lines of inquiry focus upon Ecosystems of our planet, Factors that affect ecosystems and their inhabitants and Taking action to protect ecosystems. To get a real-life perspective of this we have planned a field trip to Gardens By the Bay to take part in an Eco Explorer workshop on Friday the 21st of March, 2014. We will be leaving school at 9:00am sharp. Please do not be late as we have a 09:30am booking. We will be back at school at approximately 1:30pm. During the field trip, the children will understand the interaction between organisms as well as their relationship with the environment. They will appreciate how technology can be harnessed to Mans advantage in scientific investigations. Also children will understand the importance of conserving our environment and acting responsibly. The field trip will take place outside, so in the event of bad weather we will have to postpone the field trip at short notice. Students should wear their PE kit and bring a hat. They will need to bring a morning snack, a packed lunch and a drink. We will be eating our lunch at the gardens. Please apply an insect repellant in the morning and send it into school with your child incase it is needed throughout the morning. The children should bring their afternoon snack in a separate bag, which will be left at school. We will need to collect $20 as a fee for this field trip. Please fill out the attached forms and return by Friday the 14th of March. Thank you. Kind Regards, The Year 3 Team
