Review with students what a plant needs to grow and how it obtains energy. Discuss and predict what would happen to a plant if it did not have sunlight, water, soil, etc. Watch Plant parts on brainpop jr. Students will create a foldable and draw the parts of a plant and label the parts inside the book.

Students will write illustrate their own plant and write about what a plant needs to grow.

Parts of Plant Song (See below). Discuss the different types of plants (shrubs, trees, grasses). Go outside and look at the different types of trees and use a chart to compare their features. Discuss what will happen to all the plants outside as Spring starts to approach. Students will illustrate what they trees will look like as the season starts to change

Discuss how a plant changes as it grow; how it grows from a seed to a sprout to a seedling. Watch brainpop jr. Plant Life cycle. Students will complete a book to review plant concepts.

Introduce a family tree. Discuss with the students and what is included on a family tree and together the class will create a family tree on chart paper to be used as an anchor chart.

Review family tree anchor chart. Students will create their own family tree.

Discuss different events we celebrate with our families. Choose one event to illustrate. Students will label the pictures and then write about their event.

Complete a class timeline of our day; complete a class timeline of our life (including only major events).
