Pledge of Allegiance The class helper will come up to the front of the class to hold the flag while we recite the pledge

Song and Dance We will sing a circle time song using musical instruments or with dancing The class helper can choose the song Letter of the week I will ask the students what the letter of the week is: X What sound does it make? What words start with the letter X? Show them the letter in sign language Next, we will look at the letter chart. I will read aloud the poem about the letter "X" and ask students to listen for the words with X in them. Then we will look at the illustration and I will call on students to point out objects in the picture that have the letter X In them

Theme activity Remind students what we are talking about this week: rainbows/St. Pats day I will lead the students to discuss what they know about rainbows already Review all the colors in the rainbow Next, I will tell students that we are going to graph of each student's favorite color Has anyone heard the word graph before? Do you know what a graph is? Clarify/explain that a graph is a picture that shows how many friends chose each color Each student will take a turn to come up to the front of the class and find the card with their name on it and stick it onto the graph above their favorite color.

After each student has given their answer, we will count the number of names for each color. I will write the totals on the graph. Before counting, I will ask students if they can guess which one looks like it will have the most and least. Ask students after counting: Which color has the most names? Which color has the least names? Transition and Dismissal: Dismiss students to wash line up and wash their hands for snack time Assessment: I will observe the students during circle time to assess if the objectives are being met: if they are participating and expressing their ideas, following directions, interacting with me and their peers, etc.
