Comments: The proof for this competency is a discussion forum I created in the class Culture and ESL Pedagogy. This forum allows me to continually develop my cultural knowledge to be able to make links for students between learning situations and their own culture. Competency 2: Communiquer clairement et correctement dans la langue denseignement, loral et lcrit, dans les divers contextes lis la profession enseignante. Comments: The proof provided for this competency is a discussion forum I created in the class Culture and ESL Pedagogy. The discussion forum demonstrates my writing abilities in English and the ability to communicate my ideas clearly and use a target language level for a certain audience. In this case for teachers. This pertains to my professional development because I will be required to communicate in a language level related to the teaching profession. Competency 3: Concevoir des situations denseignement/ apprentissage pour les contenus faire apprendre et ce, en fonction des lves concerns et du dveloppement vises par le programme de formation. Comments: The proof provided for this section is my LES which I created with my group in our Pedagogy: Teaching Young Children class. This LES shows my ability to structure an activity for a certain grade level, in this case grades 1/2. The carful attention to vocabulary used and sentence structure relates to my professional development because is shows my awareness of using relevant vocabulary and sentences structures when developing a lesson. The LES also demonstrates my development in lesson structure development. In this lesson students are asked to go further then just regurgitating what they have learned on a piece of paper which relates to the learning goals of the MELS program. They are encouraged to demonstrate their understanding through a variety of activities. Comments: The proof provided for this section is my actual hours of teaching, tutoring and monitoring. These hours continually contribute to my professional development. They allow me to improve my classroom management skills, modify my planning for different levels and students and organize my classrooms for effective learning. This pertains to my professional development because it allows me to practice and improve the many things involved in planning, organizing and supervising a class. Comptence 7: Adapter ses interventions aux besoins et aux caractristiques des lves prsentant des difficults dapprentissage, dadaptation ou un handicap. Comments: The number of hours teaching that I have done has allowed me to continually encounter a variety of students for which I need to adapt my teaching style. Therefore this pertains to my professional development in this competency because I am developing my aptitude for dealing with students with learning disabilities and other difficulties. Comptence 8: Intgrer les technologies de linformation et des communications aux fins de prparation et de pilotage dactivits denseignement apprentissage, de gestion de lenseignement et de dveloppement professionnel. Comments: One project this year allowed me to develop this competency. It was the discussion forum we were required to create in our Culture and ESL Pedagogy class. This project has furthered my abilities in working with ICTs and provides me with the possibility of integrating them into my future classroom. Therefore developing my abilities in this competency. Comptence 11: Sengager dans une dmarche individuelle et collective de dveloppement personnel et professionnel. Comments: Both my SEAQ membership and my attendance at the SPEAQ conference have shown my interest in my personal professional development. By attending SEAQ and becoming a member I was able to use many of the different useful tools presented on the website and at the conference. This has allowed me to continue to develop myself professionally. Another item provided as proof for this section is my participation in the APEAL general assembly. This involvement has started me on the path to participating in committees and other associations related to my professional development. When I will be in the school system I will need to participate in other activities outside of just teaching and the APEAL general meeting gives me a guideline for those future experiences. B. Briefly identify goals for yourself for the next year. My goals for next year are to continually find new tools and experiences to contribute to my professional development. More specifically I would like to learn more about classroom management and lesson planning for different levels within a class. I would also like to experiment more with ICTs and find ways in which I would like to use them in the classroom. Another goal would be to find more sources to start creating a database for my future ESL lessons.
