 Where is Kenya?
 Kenya is located in East Africa with a latitude
and longitude of 1° 16’ South and 36° 48’
East.
 Its capital is Nairobi.

 Kenya is bordered by Somalia, Ethiopia,

Tanzania, Uganda, and Sudan.
 Kenya spans about 85% the area of Texas.

 Its population has grown to nearly 38 million.



 Kenya’s biggest health problems deal with
tuberculosis and the deficiency of protein.
 Sanitation and water supply also pose problems
in Kenya.
 The average life expectancy for a person in
Kenya was 47 years old.
 At the end of 2001, an estimated of 2.3 million
people living in Kenya had HIV/AIDS.

 Education
 English is the official language in Kenya that is
being taught in schools.
 Many Africans cannot afford a proper education
because of the cost and lack of their income.
80% of Africans are still illiterate. Very few
Africans can go to private schools, costing
up to $1,500 a year.
