USS/ITCC AAS MTP Fall 2012

With this agreement, Ivy Tech Community College, Northwest (ITCCNW) agrees to articulate the Maintenance Training Program training provided by U.S. Steel Corporation Gary Works (USS) to completed credits for USS employees seeking an Associate of Applied Science degree at ITCCNW. Validation: The awarding of credit by ITCCNW is based upon the following evaluation of the USS Maintenance Training Program. Facilities: The USS Training Department is an up-to-date facility with current technology training equipment, adequate support, and credentialed staff. Curriculum: A review of the training program at the USS Training Department has resulted in the determination that the training material and subject matter at USS closely matches the ITCCNW Industrial Technology curriculum both in course content and contact hours of instruction. On-the Job Training: In addition to receiving the benefit of the above-described classroom education, the USS trainee also receives work assignments that reinforce the classroom education. This on-the-job education takes place under the direction of a supervisor or a qualified technician. Curriculum Comparison Attachment A crosswalks the USS training program courses to the ITCC course catalog and serves as a document to report trainee course completion. Attachment B identifies the ITCCNW degree that may be awarded to USS maintenance trainees. Transfer Protocol: To receive college credit from ITCCNW for the Maintenance Training Program courses completed at USS and gain admission into the ITCCNW associate of applied science degree program, the candidate must complete the following: Admission: The candidate must complete a Ivy Tech Community College Application for Admission" form. Transcripts: The candidate must furnish ITCCNW with an official transcript of high school or college records. This may be accomplished by filling out the "Request for Transcript" form. Assessment: The candidate must take the Academic Skills Assessment (COMPASS) or provide adequate documentation to permit a waiver of the assessment.

Documentation: The candidate will allow USS to release to ITCCNW the record of training that has been completed at the USS Training Department.

Articulation: For each candidate the USS Training Department will provide ITCCNW a copy of the completed records along with a signed and dated affidavit confirming the accuracy of these records. See Attachment A. ITCCNW will review the documentation supplied by USS and will award the candidate ITCCNW college credit as specified in Attachment A. Any Technician that has already completed the training program at the USS Training Department will be awarded ITCCNW college credit as specified in Attachment A upon validation of Technician status by USS. The ITCCNW articulation for college credit towards an Industrial Technology associate of applied science degree will take place only after all other ITCCNW degree requirements have been met. USS training will articulate specifically to an associate of applied science degree program, no other degrees or certificates will be covered through this articulation agreement. Continuation: Either party to this agreement may cancel it at the end of the academic year, if they so desire. This agreement is subject to changes in ITCCNW curriculum and/or changes in ITCCNW policies and procedures. If the agreement is not cancelled, it will automatically stay in effect through the following academic year. Review of this articulation agreement is required every two years.
