Wilmary Rodriguez 2/8/2014 Romanticism The romanticism took place in the late 17th century, after the French

Revolution and the enlightenment. The enlightenment was a movement where people base their action in reasoning. For example, before they do something they will think about the consequences of their actions, while the romanticism was a movement where people base they feeling in rebellious. They did not care about what other people say. They were really rebellious and fight for what they wanted. Many painters base their art in romanticism in 1789. For example:

As we can see in the picture, the picture is showing us two young people, who are meeting in a place like a basement, this show the rebellious spirit that they have. It seems like people did not agree with them being together, but even so they still did it, because they did not care what people think or say. They always thought they have a reason to live and once they finally got what they wanted, they felt their life did not have any more meaning. Therefore they commit a lot of suicide. Nature was a very important part of the romanticism. For Example:

Here we can see a man on the brink of despair, he seems like he want to suicide himself. But also we can see that the art was very focus on a contrast of very dark colors, even the white is not a bright white as always, it look more like a white mist. We can also appreciate in the picture how the painters try to make the nature look huge in from of the human, one of the reason why they did this was because they wanted to show the power of nature. Another really important characteristic of romanticism was that this give the power to people to be rebellious and disagree with others. One of the ideas that people disagree with what with the type of government during that time. Due by the fact that people thought they came to life for a reason, and they new they can be rebellious, some people start to disagree with the type of government and therefore they make more rebellions and wars. For example:

As we can see in a picture there is woman that love her country. She is fighting for her country and setting it free. Even women who had always being an idea of useless and good to the house, were disagreeing and making rebellions against what they thought wasnt correct. A we can see romanticism was a very important movement. Even now we still use some concerts and characteristics of romanticism. Therefore I believe romanticism was a really important movement in the world as a whole. Which leapt to the development of a lot of positive and some negative ideas. This was a catalyst because there is very big different between enlightenment and romanticism. This was such a big change, and if we think about, it the whole world start to develop more after that very movement.
