Name: Dribble Medley

Team selection: Student will split up into 5 groups of 4 that they work best with. Positions: Two students in each group will line up at one end of the pool while the other two wait at the other end. Facility: Pool (indoor/outdoor) (30m x 20m) Equipment: Water polo balls (5) Focus: Dribbling (speed) Performance Objectives: Students should be able to: (P)- Demonstrate how to dribble a water polo ball by pushing it through the water in one of the correct ways it was taught at all times throughout the game. (NASPE # 1; MA CF #2.17) (C)- List the correct ways to dribble a water polo ball with 100% accuracy when asked by the teacher. (NASPE # 2; MA CF #2.17) (A)- Respect all of the equipment used in the game by only using it for its purpose. (NASPE # 5; MA CF #2.26) Rules/Regulations: -Dribble Medley is a relay race in which the 5 groups of students compete against each other -Student (1) will swim to the other end of the pool where his/her teammates are waiting. -The student must swim with the water polo ball, pushing it with either their upper arm, nose, head, or the wave of their bodies (the ball can not go under the water). -Once the first player has reached the end of the pool, he or she will pass the ball to their teammate who will then dribble the ball back to the other side of the pool. -Each of the 4 students will go two times until they are back in the position they started in. -5 points shall be awarded to the 1st place team, 4 points to the 2nd, 3 points to the 3rd, 2 points to the 4th, and 1 point to the 1st place team. -The game can go on for as long as needed. Safety Tips: 1-Make sure students can swim comfortably in deep water before starting the game. 2- Make sure students swim with their heads out of the water, so that no injuries occur from collisions.

Extension up- perform in deep water (students must treat the entire time) Extension down- perform in chest-deep water

Name: Popping Pass Team selection: Students will be split up into 4 teams of 5 students based on each other's birthdays Positions: One team of 5 will be on offense, versing one team of 5 on defense

Facility: Pool (outdoor/indoor) (30m x 20m) Equipment: Water polo balls (4) Focus: Passing (wet/dry pass) Performance Objectives: (P)- Perform the correct way to pass a water polo ball by successfully completing both the wet and dry passes with 80% accuracy. (NASPE # 1; MA CF #2.17) (C)- Describe the difference between the two passes with 100% accuracy when asked by the teacher. (NASPE # 2; MA CF #2.17) (A)- Respect all equipment by only using it for its purpose throughout the entire game. (NASPE # 5; MA CF #2.26) Rules/Regulations: -Popping Pass if a game that focuses on increasing the skill of passing both wet and dry passes. -The objective of the game is to pass the ball around all 5 teammates without letting the defense get a touch on it. -Four consecutive dry passes (without the ball touching the water) by the offense will result in 4 points. -Four consecutive wet passes (the ball touching the water) by the offense will result in 2 points. -A combination of four consecutive wet and dry passes by the offense will result in 3 points for that team. -However, if the defensive team is able to get possession of the ball at any time throughout the game, it will result in a deduction of one point from the offenses score. The game will go on for 5 minutes before the offense and defense switch places.

Safety Tips: 1-There is no contact allowed between players at any time. 2- Players are not allowed to purposely splash the opposing team. Extension up- point values for the defensive will be doubled Extension up- students will play in deep water Extension up- point values for the offensive will be doubled Extension down- students will play in chest-deep water

Name: Witch Hunt Team selection: Each student will choose a partner that they work incredibly well with. Positions: Player (1) will shoot first while player (2) retrieves the ball and vice versa Facility: Pool (indoor/outdoor) (30m x 20m) Equipment: polo balls (10) big cones (20) small cones (20) Focus: Shooting (accuracy) Performance Objectives: (P)- Demonstrate the correct way to hit a specific target with a water polo ball when

asked by the teacher.(NASPE #1; MA CF #2.17) (C)- Describe the difference in throwing a polo ball between the different depths in the pool with 100% accuracy when asked by the teacher. (NASPE #2; MA CF #2.17) (A)- Respect the provided equipment by only using it correctly throughout the entire game. (NASPE # 5; MA CF #2.17) Rules/Regulations: -The game of Which Hunt is played with teams of two students. -Student (1) will be in the pool while student (2) will be standing out of the pool. -Student (1) will have 20 seconds to throw (with one hand only) a polo ball and knock down the four cones (two big and two small cones) sitting on the edge of the pool. -After each throw, student (2) will retrieve the ball (without getting in the water) and pass it back to his or her partner. -After 20 seconds the partners will switch places. -The big cones are worth 2 points and the small cones are worth 3 points. -After each full round, the students will combine their scores and compare them with the rest of the class. -There can be as many rounds as needed.

Safety Tips: 1- Both students must be watching the ball at all times to avoid injuries 2- Only one student from each group is allowed in the pool at all times

Extension Up- move into deeper water (harder to throw) Extension Down- make the time longer giving students more attempts to knock down the cones

Name: Hoop Shots Team selection: Teacher will pick 4 teams of 5 students based on who comes first on the attendance sheet. Positions: For each team: -Players 1 and 2 will be on defense -Players 3 and 4 will be on offense -Player 5 will be able to switch from offense to defense when necessary Facility: Pool (indoor/outdoor) (30m x 20m) Equipment:

-Water polo balls (4) -Water polo nets (2) -Hula-hoops (2) Focus: Shooting (strategies) Performance Objectives: (P)- Demonstrate the correct way to throw a water polo ball so that the goalie will not be able to block the shot, when asked by the teacher. (NASPE #1 ; MA CF #2.17 ) (C)- Name the correct areas of where to aim the water polo ball when shooting on goal with 100% accuracy when asked by the teacher. (NASPE #2 ; MA CF #2.17 ) (A)- Respect all provided equipment used in the game by only using it for its purpose. (NASPE #5 ; MA CF #2.17 ) Rules/Regulations: -Hoop Shots is a game that is played with 5 students on each team. -The objective of the game is to shoot the ball into the opposing players goal. -There is a 10 foot line (placed on top of the water with rope) in front of each goal that no player may shoot from within. -There is a hula-hoop hanging in the middle of each goal. If the ball goes in the hulahoop, 2 points are awarded to the team. -If the ball goes in the goal but outside of the hula-hoop, 4 points are awarded. -If the ball happens to miss the goal entirely without being deflected, 1 point is taken away from the shooting team. -The game should be no longer than 5-10 minutes.

Safety Tips: 1- the ball cannot be stolen from an opposing team, only shadowing is allowed (no contact). 2- all students must be watching the ball at all times. Extensions up- put two hula-hoops in each net Extension up- make the hula-hoop(s) deduction points Extensions down- take away the 10 foot no shooting line in front of each goal

Name: D-rock Team selection: Teacher will pick 4 random students to be captains who will choose the other four members of the team in chronological order. Positions: -1 goalie -4 middies Facility: Pool (indoor/outdoor) (30m x 20m) Equipment: -Water Polo balls (2)

-Water polo nets (2) Focus: Defense Performance Objectives: (P)- Perform the correct way to block a pass by knocking the ball away from the goal with one or two hands throughout the entire game. (NASPE #1 ; MA CF #2.17) (C)- Describe why defense is such an important role in water polo when asked by the teacher. (NASPE #2 ; MA CF #2.17) (A)- Respect all equipment by only using it correctly throughout the entire game. (NASPE #5 ; MA CF #2.26

Rules/Regulations: -D-rock is played with two teams of 5 players each (4 teams of 5 with 20 students). -The objective of the game is to shoot the ball past the goalie into the net. -1 point is awarded to any team who able to score a goal. -If at any point in the game the defense is able to steal the ball, 2 points are awarded to that team. -If there is a shot on goal that is blocked, the defense is given 1 point. -If the ball is shot and blocked by the goalie, no points are awarded to either team. -The game will go on for five minutes before the teams are rotated around to play the other 2 teams. Safety Tips: 1- No contact is allowed between players. 2- Every players attention must be focused on the ball. Extensions up- Students must make 4 consecutive passed before shooting Extension down- All out of bounds balls go to the defensive players (depending on which side of the pool the ball went out of bounds)

Name: Loco Ball Team selection: Teacher will choose complete teams in order to keep all teams relatively even. Positions: Per team: -2 offensive players -2 defensive players -1 goalie Facility: Pool (indoor/outdoor) (30m x 20m)

Equipment: -Water polo balls (2) -Water polo nets (2) Focus: shooting, passing, dribbling Performance Objectives: (P)- Perform the correct way to dribble, pass and shoot a water polo ball with accuracy to a teammate or the goal throughout the entire game. (NASPE #1 ; MA CF #2.17) (C)- List all rules and regulations to Loco Ball with 100% accuracy when asked by the teacher. (NASPE #2 ; MA CF #2,17) (A)- Respect all provided equipment by only using it correctly throughout the entire game. (NASPE #5 ; MA CF #2.17)

Rules/Regulations: -Loco Ball is an extremely close version of Water Polo. -4 teams are divided up into groups of 5 students. -To start the game, all players line up on their respective goal lines. -The referee throws a ball into the middle of the pool and one player on each team swims to collect it, and pass it back to his or her team. -A goal is scored when the ball crosses over the goal line in the goal area. -After a goal has been scored, both teams retreat to their respective halves and the team that just scored passes it to the opposing players. -Players are allowed to swim into position but may not swim while holding the ball. -The ball can be dribbled through the water, but the opposing players are allowed to steal the ball provided there is no contact with another player. -Players are allowed to catch the ball with two hands, but it must be thrown with one hand. -No player is allowed to hold the ball for more than 5 seconds without passing, shooting, or dribbling it through the water. -This game is played with four, 5-minute quarters and the teams must switch sides at halftime. Safety Tips: 1- No physical contact is allowed between players. 2- Players must be focused on the ball at all times.
