Taught two Grade 9 Applied Science classes for four weeks and a Grade 11 University Chemistry class. During this time I aided student learning through the use of interactive educational software and differentiated instruction. During this placement I created lesson plans aligning with the Ontario curriculum and utilized various instructional strategies to provide exciting and engaging learning opportunities. I also practiced delivery of lessons while experimenting with techniques for effective classroom management, assessment and evaluation.

As part of my professional year at Lakehead University I have had the opportunity to tutor students from a local high school (Superior Collegiate & Vocational Institude, 333 High Street N., Thunder Bay). The one-on-one tutoring focused on increasing student ability in literacy in preparation for the Ontario Secondary School Literacy Test. For the tutoring we were supplied with student handbooks with pre-written questions. To increase student interest in reading and writing I provided material relevant to student life from outside of the handbook and engaged them with writing tasks related to each students interests.
