To Whom It May Concern: I have had the opportunity to act as the college-based supervisor for Miss Emily Tittiger from January to early March, 2014, as she completes one of her spring semester student teaching placements at Neshannock Area Elementary School. Emily will be earning Prek-4 Early Childhood and PreK-8 Special Education certifications in May upon graduation from Westminster College. She is currently working under Mrs. Lucinda Loudon in a learning support classroom and will soon be in her general education 2nd grade placement. Her cooperating teacher indicates to me that she is the "most outstanding" student teacher she has ever had the pleasure of mentoring. I whole-heartedly agree. Emily has been responsible for an increasing amount of daily planning and implementation of lessons in all academic and content areas during the first half of the semester at Neshannock. She consistently selects materials and uses methods for lesson presentation that are motivational, creative, individualized, and developmentally/age-appropriate for the learners. Emily regularly brings related activities and "games" into the curriculum in purposeful and productive ways. The students have been eager and willing participants in daily lessons because she makes learning fun. Miss Tittiger is most professional, yet she has the gift of engaging even the most reluctant student into the learning process with great success! The nature of this classroom setting has allowed Emily to interact with students who have a variety of learning needs. She has become adept at individualizing lessons for all of the students who receive academic instruction in this learning support setting. Emily is approachable, warm, and available to the students throughout the day. She uses positive behavioral support and strong classroom management skills with maximum results. Learning in this particular classroom has been an exciting adventure that the teacher and students experience together through creatively designed lessons. Miss Tittiger has successfully established a working rapport with her students, other colleagues, and related services personnel. Emily enjoys working with children and it shows. I am certain that she will be an asset to any school district and community in which she is employed. It is without hesitation that I give Emily Tittiger my highest recommendation. She is absolutely ready for her own classroom. Hiring her will be one of the best decisions your district ever makes. Sincerely,
