Manager of Recruitment TCDSB 80 Sheppard Avenue East North York, ON, M2N 6E8 Dear Mrs.Gruppuso, Looking for a unique teacher with ample experience in a classroom, who is updated with all the new teaching techniques and research? Look no further. It is with great interest that I would like to apply for a position in the TCDSB. I am a diverse young graduate from this board that has completed a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology at Ryerson University. I am currently acquiring my Bachelor of Education at York University through the C.E.C. My teachables are chemistry and biology. As an educator, my philosophies are deeply rooted in the fact that student growth should encompass the mind, body and spirit. Through the numerous God given opportunities granted to me, I have internalized countless skills and attributes. My experiences with diverse age groups, from grade one to twelve, have helped me develop basics skills that I use transversely. These competences include, communicating effectively, building a sense of community, differentiating instructions, being organized, and exceptional classroom management techniques. As an educator, I feel these are all strong points of mine. My practicum is where I really flourished as an educator. At Loretto Abbey, I learned to develop lesson plans with differentiated instructional strategies by incorporating visuals, verbal cues, music, and movement to target all types of learners. By applying accommodations and modifying expectations, I ensured all students were challenged. The use of technology to promote 21st century learning was another area where I matured. At Dante Alighieri, I engaged students through use of SMART board, social media, and devices for assessment. My dedication to student holistic growth is displayed through the countless hours put into administering multicultural night, coaching basketball, soccer, and W5H teams. At Our Lady of Guadalupe, I created and executed the Black History Science Fair, as awareness, community, and inclusivity are close to my heart. All these practices describe what I will bring to TCDSB. Integrated in everything I do, is my love for Christ and humanity. As a Catholic, my foundations are anchored in gospel values and are demonstrated through actions before words. I am actively involved in my community, volunteering at North York General Hospital, and fundraising and executing lesson plans within St.Aidan's Church youth group. I strongly believe in the spiritual growth of every student by promoting the virtues and social justice teachings in accordance with the Catholic Graduate Expectations. I am a teacher because I enjoy hard work and helping others find success. I want my students to experience meaningful, interesting learning ingrained in catholic values. I want to be considered for a position within the TCDSB, and look forward to sharing my beliefs and desires with you in an interview. Sincerely,

Jason M. Pereira
