Integrated curriculum and provided a low-anxiety environment to meet the needs of two ELL students; Some strategies included modeling proper language, enunciating and speaking slowly, using visuals, providing students with a bilingual support sheet highlighting key terms, implementing cooperative learning, and presenting information in various ways.

The unit concluded with a culminating ceremony, where students presented their work to their parents. Used manipulatives to absorb students in hands-on learning of mathematics. The manipulatives provided students with a concrete model of an abstract concept.

Sophomore Field Experience, East Amwell Elementary School, East Amwell, NJ, Spring 2011 Observed, assisted, and taught mathematics and science to a fourth grade class of twenty-two students. Utilized 5 E lesson planning in order to foster students to make their own discoveries, and construct new understandings based on these discoveries and the students prior knowledge. Used the SMART board in mathematics to engage kinesthetic, visual, and auditory learners in their lesson; Introduced probability to the students through a SMART board spinner game, which had children learn through play, to foster cognitive development. Applied effective questioning techniques; Probing questions were used in science to augment students critical thinking. Sophomore Year Field Experience, Parkway Elementary School, Ewing, NJ, Fall 2011 Assisted, observed and taught a comprehensive, balanced literacy program in a second grade classroom of twenty students. Engaged in a child study project; Examined the students behaviors and performance in the classroom, determined his stage in development and contemplated ways to foster the childs development. Led guided reading groups; Scaffolded the comprehension of lower-leveled students and fostered higher levels of thinking, such as evaluating and analyzing text for the advanced students. Related Work Experience: Head Camp Counselor, Oak Hill Christian Nursery School, Howell, NJ, Summer 2013 Created and implemented a five to seven year old summer curriculum for the school. The curriculum consisted of inquiry-based lessons and activities, all corresponding to the theme of the week.
