Inadditiontothis,immigrantshaveaffectedtheUnitedStatesbynotonlytakingjobpositions butbecausetheyarealsocommittingcrimessuchassmugglingillegaldrugsintothecountry.Studies showmarijuanaisthetopleadingdrugtobesmuggledattheborder.Borderpatrolshavefound2.5 millionpoundsofmarijuanatryingtobesmuggledoverthebordersbyimmigrants.Eventhough marijuanaistheleastexpensive,itistheonethatmakesthemostprofitintheUnitedStates.Foran example,AyoungrunnerhelpingMexico'sdrugcartelsfeeda$65billionayearu.s.marketforillicit drugs(LaceyandCave21).Notonlyiscrossingtheborderacrimebutalsosmugglingovermakesit evenworse.ImmigrantsarecreatingcrimeandhaveincreasedourcrimerateintheUnitedStates. Nottomention,thelawstatesthatifoneisnotAmericancitizenandstayinghereillegallyasan immigrant,he/shemustbedeportedbacktothecountrywheretheimmigrantcamefrom.Illegal immigrantshaveanegativeimpactontaxespaidandservicesconsumed. Federationforamericanimmigrationreform,illegalimmigrationcosttaxpayers$113billiona year(TamarandTancredo22).Thelargerthepopulationofimmigrantswouldcasethestateamuch higherrateontaxespaidbyAmericancitizens.Agreatexpenseof$52billionayearoneducating childrenofillegalimmigrantscomingfromstateandlocalgovernment.Illegalimmigrantscauseagreat expenseintheUnitedStates.(TamarandTancredo22). Manypeoplearguethatimmigrantsaregoodforourcountrybecausemosttaketoughjobsor jobsAmericansdon'twant.Thishelpstheeconomybecauseoftheskillstheyhaveortheacceptanceof lowwage.HoweverineverytypeoffieldyoucannameAmericansandlegalimmigrantsperformthe majorityofthosejobs.Inonlyarea,seasonalagriculturaljobs,isthereacasethatweneedmore temporaryworkers,andwealreadyhaveafederalprogramtofillthosejobslegally(Tamerand

Tancredo22).Wedonotneedlegalimmigrantstodoanysortofjobbecausewealreadyhave Americancitizenstoperformthatjobaredoingitlegallywithoutaproblem. IllegalimmigrantshaveanegativeeffectontheUnitedStatesbecausetheytakejobsaway, increasecrimerates,andaffecttaxespaidbyAmericancitizens.MosttrytocometotheUnitedStates toliveabetterlife,theydon'tdoitillegallytherefore,itisacrimethataffectsimmigrantsandAmerican citizensaswell.Therefore,illegalimmigrantsshouldnotbegrantedcitizenship.
