The background is plain grey which is a very dim, heavy colour but however works in this case as it clashed

with the white and yellow.

The colour of the font also clashes with the colour of her hair. This creates a more lighting, sweet, honey impression of Carrie Underwood. This reflects her in a positive way and makes the double page spread successful because first impressions are important and she does target a young audience. Parents will be happy to know that their child is reading an artist that is a good influence.

The masthead is in bright yellow and white colours which connote a very happy, spiritual vibe. This works with this artist because her genre belongs to country which always tends to be upbeat and happy. In many music magazines, double page spreads tend to have the artists names and a caption in order to engage the reader and create a more personal connection between them and the artist.

The picture is of a mid shot/close up angle which just brings her closer to the audience. Its almost as if she is talking to them. Her direct mode of address is very intriguing as it connects the audience to her story and allows the audience to fully understand what her story really is about.

The layout is very simplistic and plane which inidactes it is trying to reach a certain type of audience. They tend to be young adults who are more relaxed and come from stable backgrounds. However this also reaches a target audience from a differen background as her story is an inspirational one just by reading the quote at the top.

The number is on the side of the page. Most magazines tend to put them in the middle. This makes it unique because it is in a daisy and links with the larger daisy up above. This also works with the genre the double page spread is based on as daisy are very pretty delicate, innocent flowers which represent new life and new beginnings. This is also symbolic as it clashes with the quotation music was my last resort

The caption is a quotation from the artist which reels the Audience in. In my personal opinion I consider this one of the most important parts of a double page spread because it will either attract your audience to continue reading the article or discourage them.
