Banco Terra signs Co-operation Agreement with ADIPSA


Banco Terra today announced that is has entered into an exclusive cooperation agreement with ADIPSA,
which is the Private Sector Development component under the DANIDA (Danish International
Development Agency) financed Agricultural Sector Programme Support (ASPS) to Mozambique

ADIPSA is organized to address problems in the agricultural production and marketing chain and it’s
support for rural finance is focused on:

 Capacity building (management support) to financial institutions/microfinance institutions


which are willing to finance smallholder farmers/farmer associations and small/medium
agricultural businesses;
 Capital for lending to smallholder farmers/farmer associations and agricultural businesses;
 Co-financing to farmer associations and SME’s to support investments in agricultural production.

Banco Terra is a new commercial bank in Mozambique with a special focus on the rural areas and
especially the Food & Agri and SME sector, with full fledged retail services in both urban and rural areas.

Banco Terra CEO Maarten Susan explained that it’s imperative that all stakeholders in the F&A Sector
start aligning their development efforts and cooperate where possible. He mentioned that Banco Terra
was already well positioned through its strategic alliance with shareholder GAPI, but that additional
agreements with extension providers and funding agencies would be pursued in other areas.
