Throughout my entire life I have always been a very active individual.

I took part in as many extra-curricular sports activities as I was allowed. The class that I always looked forward to participating in was my physical education classes. In the future, I want to have the opportunity to give students the enjoyment of being physically active in their lifestyles! s a student from elementary school to middle school I spent every single summer day at the park and pool in !ineral "oint. #ou couldn$t find me indoors during the summertime. I participated in volleyball, basketball, and softball all four years of high school. !y senior year of basketball I received "layer of the #ear for the %& ' conference. I received these honors because not only did I work hard in the season, but I worked hard in the off season and summer days as well. s a job during the summer, I

worked as a lifeguard at the !ineral "oint "ublic "ool. (p to this point and time, my life has been a very active one. Throughout my years going through school, it was obvious that I loved being active. It was not hard to make my decision of going to college for a physical education degree. I decided to become a physical education teacher because my childhood is filled with many memories of enjoyment while being active. I so much valued being active in any way possible. I want to show children that they can have fun while being active too, thus improving their lifestyles. I also decided to become a physical education teacher because I love sport activity and I want to teach kids that playing sports and being active is not only beneficial but brings enjoyment as well as a feeling of success and belonging. s I grew up, I slowly reali)ed that an educator$s goal is to help students learn while they develop. I want to be a part of helping students in any way possible.

*ducators have a career unlike any others out there. *ducators have the opportunity to aid in helping a student develop into an adult. !any educators leave a positive mark on each of their student$s past. +ne of my goals as an educator is to help each one of my students in a positive manner. nother one of my goals is to help my students better

their future lives by making the right choices to benefit their lifestyles in a healthy way. I was influenced to go to college for physical education by %cott %chmit). !r. %chmit) was my middle and high school physical education teacher, my assistant volleyball coach, and the !ineral "oint head wrestling coach. ,e taught many students of all different personalities and never ceased to give up on any one of them. -ot only on the court and on the mat did !r. %chmit) push you to go as hard as you can, but he pushed you in physical education class as well. !r. %chmit) taught me that no one can push me harder than I can push myself and I would like to teach my students that. "hysical education was my favorite class because there was no such thing as holding back. s the head coach of the wrestling team, !r. %chmit) has brought home the most

individual state championships of any town or city in &isconsin. ,e is a great and inspiring teacher that has made an impact on my life. %ome .ualities that !r. %chmit) possesses are that he makes his students listen. ,e always had something important to say and when he was talking you were listening. nother .uality is that he brings out

the best in you. ,e gets you to give your all and perform things at a high level. !r. %chmit) never taught down to his students. ,e knew his students well enough to know their individual limits. ,e pushed each and every student to their limit and that is why he was successful. %tudents were happy to please !r. %chmit).

%ome central ideas about teaching and learning that guide me are that students go to school to learn. &hy not find teachers that love to help those students achieve their goals and help them further their education. I was a better learner when it came to hands on activities and that is what teaching physical education is all about. "hysical education teachers possess many great .ualities. They strive to help every individual in their classroom, not just the athletic students. "hysical education teachers need to be ready to differentiate their instruction to make sure that all students of different abilities can participate. "hysical education teachers also need to be creative in many different activities to make sure the students stay interested and involved. These are the many great .ualities that physical education teachers possess. t the (niversity of &isconsin-"latteville I have had the opportunity to learn many different teaching concepts and tactics. !y physical education professors have helped me tremendously into becoming the educator I am today. They have trained me on how to make complete lesson plans and how to modify and adapt activities and lessons to make sure that all students can participate. I have practiced implementing these skills in the classroom and on site within the school settings. I have participated in many programs and activities including the adapted a.uatics program, teaching at %t. /oe$s *lementary %chool, wellness days for many different schools, the (&" homeschool program, pre-student teaching, etc. I was also a part of the (&" women$s basketball team for four years and became a captain my senior year. I have also had the opportunity to coach the !ineral "oint %wim Team for two years. ll these experiences

have helped me develop new teaching strategies and classroom management plans.

!y goal as a future physical education teacher is to be the best educator I can be. I will strive to improve all .ualities of my teaching skills. I want to show students that not only is it beneficial to be active, but fun as well! *very student will enjoy something different and I will give those students the opportunity to partake in that. I want to put a positive mark on all of my students and have them walk away with something they will take with them the rest of their lives that will benefit their well-being.
