Letter of recommendation for Jordan Engel

Selection Committee I am very pleased to write this letter of recommendation for Jordan Engel. I have known Jordan for about 8 months, where I have interacted with her in her role as member of the Vice Chancellors Character Council at the University of Nebraska-Lincolna student organization that I serve as the advisor for and in her role as a sorority leader in our sorority community. Put simply, Jordan is a woman of value and integrity. Jordan recently took the Clifton Strengths finder, and has several strengths that I believe will make her an exceptional teacher. In addition to her natural strengths, she has accumulated a multitude of experiences that have prepared her for the responsibility of educating youth. As I previously mentioned, Jordan is woman of value and most notably, integrity. Jordan is so committed to living a life of integrity that she applied for and was accepted as a student leader on the Vice Chancellors Character Council. This organizations entire focus is to inspire other students to live lives of integrity at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln, by recognizing them for acts of integrity and educating them on what integrity looks like on a college campus. In her role on the Character Council, Jordan helps the council by providing input and strategic thinking with her futuristic mindsetalways helping the group look beyond the short-term. Jordan is the type that can inspire others through constantly looking into the horizon. At moments where the group might have been unable to come to a consensus on a current project or idea, Jordan is able to conjure up visions of the futureand they were often energizing for others. Ultimately, her work with the council is indicative of how critical she believes integrity and good character is in shaping an identity. She will bring this same principle to her work with youth. Jordans has a natural propensity to be disciplined, and focused and she thrives in environments where her work needs to be organized and planned. As a teacher, I believe this natural tendency will enable her to be diligent in planning and organizing lesson plans, bringing her best to the classroom everyday. I am confident that she will be methodical and intentional in preparing for class, as I have seen her do so in other transferrable areas in her role as a council member. For example, Jordan facilitated an exercise for the council on goal-setting. She came prepared with handouts, notes and questions to guide discussion. If she is willing to take such preparations to plan for her personal interests, I can only imagine how well she would be prepared in a professional role. Jordan has also been a leader in the sorority community at UNL. As the Vice President for Administration Jordan was again responsible for both the strategic planning of the sororitys

activities, as well as the accountability of other team members. Her ability to hold members of a team accountable and maintain relationships with those women is indicative of her ability to be an effective, yet enjoyable, team player. Her amiability paired with her natural draw towards roles that require planning and strategic thinking is further evidence of her experience and excitement for roles that require preparation, planning and working with others. Jordan has taken on numerous education and teaching related experiences in preparation for her professional goals of becoming a teacher. Jordan has engaged in the necessary student teaching, and practical experiences necessary to succeed at managing a classroom independently. She has experience working with students of all ages and races as her teaching and practicum experiences are diverse in their make-up. As a professional actively working in higher education, I can see that Jordan has the essential skills, passion and integrity that are necessary to excel in a space that fosters learning and development. I hope you give her your highest consideration to be a member of your faculty. Please dont hesitate to contact me if I can answer any questions for you about Jordan. Sincerely,

Greg Golden
