General Objective: The students will be taught simple verbs and will be able to recognize and perform the verbs.
Lesson Objective: The students will be able to recognize and perform simple action verbs.
Materials: Three pictures of animals selected for the action time Masks or any prop you can use to represent the animal selected Appropriate background music during action time A timer with a buzzer to signal the beginning and the end of action time a mat if carpet is unavailable A copy of the Animal Song Overview: The students will be taught three (3) verbs to recognize and perform. Extensions/Adaptations:

Instructions: Question: Have you been to the zoo? What animals do you see in the zoo? (Allow several answers from the children) Today, some of our animal friends are visiting us to teach us some action words. Show pictures of the four animals. o Mr. Eagle will teach us how to fly o Mr. Elephant will teach us how to stomp o Mrs. Kangaroo will teach us how to jump Rules: Each of our guests will be teaching us an action. We will then have action time. During action time, a background music will be playing and we have to stand up and imitate our guest animal.(Introduce the buzzer sound) This is the buzzer (play the buzzer sound). When you hear the buzzer this means that it is time to go back to our places and keep quiet for our next guest. Our first guest is Mr. Eagle. (Puts on the eagle mask or a makeshift beak). I am Mr. Eagle and i will teach you how to fly. Stand up please. (The children will stand up) Raise your hands to the sides and gentle flap them like wings. Just like this. (everybody imitates Mr.
