NARRATIVE REPORT FOR MUNICIPAL MATH EXPO

The annual Municipal Math Challenge was conducted last October 1, 2013 at Tuburan Nationa High School, Tuburan , Cebu. Though there wasnt a formal opening, but the contest proper appeared to have a smooth flow. There were corresponding rooms for every type of contest and that each quarter was wellarranged fit for the conduction of contest. These were the type of contests: Math Quiz was definitely had numerous contestants for there are three (3) contestants for each year level from different schools within the town. For fourth year level, each school gave seven (7) questions each and a total of 42 items to be answered by every contestant with exactly six (6) competing schools. The participants came from Tuburan National High School, Montealegre NHS, Colonia NHS, Putat NHS, SAAT and Ireneo V. Diamante Memorial NHS. The contestants were given 90 minutes time allotment and only the first two students who got the highest scores from the school theyve represented qualified the top three (3) winners. After having the top three winners, the first two students who got the highest scores qualified for an Area Level Competition. For third year to Grade 7 level, there were 48 questions to be answered by each contestant. Everything was the same as for fourth year level; only that there were eight schools who joined the said competition. All the contestants were put into the same room. After answering, all Math coaches checked the answer sheets provided that respective coaches must not check their contestants paper. Immediate proclamation of winners was done after everything was settled. There was also Modulo Art Competition that comprised three categories: Square Grid, Kaleidoscopic, and Circular Grid which was composed of one contestant in each category and a total of three contestants for the three categories for each school. The participants were from Montealegre NHS, Tuburan NHS, Colonia NHS, and Putat NHS. First place for each category qualified for the Area Level Competition. Aside from the Math Quiz and Modulo Art Competition, there was also Rational Damath Competition which was composed of one contestant each category. Same schools as mentioned above competed for the prize. First place qualified for the Area Level. Certificates were given after each proclamation of the top three winners and for the coaches.
