! Following are the planned clinical practice activities to be undertaken by Jason Zeller during the Winter Term 2014 at the University of Michigan - Flint. This clinical practice will be completed in the Eaton Rapids School District under the direction of Dr. Bill DeFrance, Superintendent of schools, who will serve as the cooperating administrator and provide on-site supervision for the experience. Competency 1:! Accountability

Related Task 1.1 Ability to analyze and interpret the meaning of various student assessments to boards, teaching staff, and others. Specic Task 1.1.2 Present and interpret standardized test results to parents and/or students. Narrative description of specic task: DIBELS (a reading assessment used to measure literacy skills) data is collected on all students in our building beginning with kindergarten. All students were given a benchmark test at the beginning of the year and struggling students were identied and placed in tiers based on the results. Interventions were put in place and progress monitoring occurred on those identied students every 3 weeks with all students undergoing mid and end-of-year Benchmark testing. The results of the assessments will be gathered, analyzed, and presented to the staff at a staff meeting to show and analyze the results of the interventions in place at Lockwood Elementary. Competency 2:! Communication Skills

Related Task 2.2 Ability to devise information and communication systems. Specic Task 2.2.4 Establish a communication system for providing information to all concerned with a specic project in a given district. Narrative description of specic task: When I arrived at the building in November and met with the staff one of their biggest concerns was the lack of communication, specically not everyone having access to information they needed or knew where to nd it. Addressing this issue will include creating an on-line calendar and using Google drives to organize information and make it accessible to those that need it. In addition training of staff will need to occur in order to show them how to access the information including creating and inviting people to events on the on-line staff calendar along with uploading and downloading forms from the Google drive.

Related Task 8.1 Ability to communicate orally and in writing. Specic Task 3.8.1 Make an oral presentation to a school board, group of parents, or civic group. Narrative description of specic task: A presentation for the Eaton Rapids School Board will be put together and presented at a public meeting. The purpose of the presentation is to explain and get approval for the Montessori realignment plan proposed for next year. Competency 4:! Curriculum, Instruction, Supervision

Related Task 4.3 Knowledge of a variety of instructional methods and skills. Specic Task 4.3.6 Conduct at least one clinical supervision cycle including pre-observation, classroom observation, and evaluation session with teachers. Narrative description of specic task: Conduct evaluations of both teaching and support staff using the district evaluation forms and procedures. This will include pre-observations, along with both pre and postconference meetings, and classroom observations along with additional support in writing their individual goals. For many staff members, especially probationary staff, they may have questions about the process and new tenure laws that the evaluator must be prepared to answer. Competency 5:! Related Task 4.5 Ability to conduct long-range planning in terms of instructional needs and staff involvement. Specic Task 4.5.4 Work with faculty committee to identify and prioritize educational needs of a school or district. Narrative description of specic task: An additional $15,529 in Title I money has been allocated to Lockwood Elementary and must be used to support the Building Improvement Plan and the School-Wide Intervention Plan. Working with the Title I team a half-time Title I teacher will be hired

and the job description will be created (with the input of the new staff member) based on the needs of the building. Competency XX:! Job Shadow Over the next several weeks spend time with the administrators at both the High School Principal, Dave Johnson, and the Middle School Principal, Elizabeth Lozen. The goal will be to spend a chunk of time, roughly 2-4 hours, with both principals in their buildings to observe the systems they have in place, see the things they deal with and how they handle them as well as have them come and spend time at Lockwood to see how things are run and offer input and suggestions for improvement. The purpose is to create a culture that both allows and encourages the exchange of ideas between the principals and buildings.
