Spherical Mirrors:

C: Center of curvature(center of sphere of which mirror is part)

V: Vertex of Mirror( center of mirror itself)

F: focal Point( Parallel rays reflected fro mirror converge at this point)

P: Principal axis (goes through c and v)

r: Radius of curvature( distance c to v) r = 2f

f: focal length (distance F to V) f=r/2

Images in Spherical Mirrors

Concave Mirrors are convergent mirrors because the reflected rays converge(come together) at the focal point forming a real image.

Real Images:
Formed by reflected rays that actually converge at a point. Can be projected on a screen. Are Inverted or erect

Concave Mirrors
If the object and the image are both located on the same side, the image is real.

Rules for Ray Diagrams

Ray 1 is drawn parallel to the principal axis and reflected back through the focal point Ray 2 is drawn through the focal point and is reflected parallel to the principal axis Ray 3 is drawn through the center of curvature and reflects back on itself
