Anticipatory Activity for Lesson: Exercise relays

Teacher Input/Lesson Activity: Entering class on line, being seated in their spot. Begin stretches, discussion of what will be done for the day. Modeling: Demonstration and discussion of the relay. I will discuss thoroughly what to do at each line. 1st round: Students go to first line hoola hoop 5 times around their waist, then go to the second line and do 5 squats. After they complete the squats they will go to the last line throw the balloon in the air do 3 pushups while keeping the balloon in the air. After they complete their pushups they will put the balloon back in place and return to their line for the next person to go. 2nd round: They will go to the first line hoola hoop around their arm 5 times, 5 Im a stars at the second line, and then 3 sit ups at the last line. 3rd round: the students will hoola hoop 5 times around their neck, next line they will do 5 over and backs, last line 5 jumping jacks. 4th round: hoola hoop around ankle 5 times, 5 mountain climbers, throw balloon in the air from the blue line touch the 3 sections of blue on the bleachers and try to catch the balloon before it hits the ground. 5th round: jump rope 5 times with hoola hoop, 5 frog jumps, throw balloon in the air do 1 down and out and try to catch the balloon before it hits the ground.

Guided Practice: Correcting mistakes that are made throughout the first round. 30 Min Independent Practice: Students will go through the relay one at a time performing each activity correctly at their own pace. Lesson Closure: Putting materials against the wall, returning to spot, discussing the purpose of the activity, getting water and lining up. Assessment Methods/Strategies: Assessment on listening skills based off of correct action towards each segment of the relay. Resources (supplies, equipment, software, etc.): 9 hoola hoops, 9 cones, 9- 11 balloons
