Course Expressions

Academic Reflection

In Expression, we did more than drawing and coloring, in this trimester we danced and sculpted. But we also did a Chuck Norris Portrait of our self and I thought that I deserved a higher grade than 70/75 because I did a good job. Language Arts, we did a problem solving essay base off of a problem here in Natomas that we thought was important. Which we broke into parts so it would be easier to write. In Math, we learned the formulas of the Surface area and Volumes for all different kinds of 3D shapes. But we also learned how to chart graphs. In P.E., we went to Racquet Club. We learned step aerobics and in health we learned about addiction to drugs and alcohol and as a bonus we did yoga. In Science, we did a Face Lab. We had to pick partner and create a baby that would have certain genes like eye color and nose shape. In Social Studies, my class made a childrens book about the Mayans. We each did a different page of the book. In Technology, we took test to help us learn about how to use Google docs, google calendar, google email, and google.

Leading Edge Academy Pillar Connections Pillar Building Partnerships/Shared Leadership Connections made this Trimester Give Concrete Examples

In Social Studies, we showed building partnership because we had to make a group outside of friends to build a non-profit charity to help children in Africa. This was partnership because I was partnered with a person I don't really know. In every class we do critical thinking. In Language Arts we have to think deep about finding solutions to a problem. Also in Technology we had to make up a game which is a part of critical thinking because you had to come up with characters, a plot, a solution and a problem. In many class beside Technology, we are very tech savvy. Like in Language Arts, we had to create a Nelson Mandela Timeline. My partner and I decided to do a Prezi. A online website for creating presentations. This shows being Tech Savvy because we were using technology as a tool. In Social Studies, we learn about different cultures from the past like Christianity and Confuses and how it affects us now. In this class alone I learned about many different cultures that were similar in many ways but were still different. I learned how to appreciate them. We had to learn about our neighborhood and compare it to other cities. It is globe thinking because we learned about a different city anywhere in the world.
