Elena Barabans CRITICAL READINGS: The Motive for Murder consisted of an essay about Montresors motivation to kill Fortunato. The very beginning of the essay talks specifically about the crime done in the story as on overview. Elena then goes over all the details of the story to explain his motives. She also explains that Poe doesnt put details in for no reason. Everything he says leads to the end of the story. She does this by siting works of Poes as well as others. This will help me to find more sources on the topic of his work as she sites many sources throughout her entry. This source is a very good source with lots of the information I need about the plot. It gives me a lot to work with when I go to write my paper. I can use this information to analyze the plot. This has a good amount of information compared to the other sources Ive decided to use. This source is about the plot. It goes into detail about the plot and parts of the story. It elaborates on Montresors plot against Fortunato as well. There isnt a lot of information but the quality of it is good. The Information in this source will be used in my plot section of the story. The source talks in detail about the plot and the characters. He starts by talking about the plot and explains what happened in the story to give the reader an easier time understanding the story. The next thing he does is explain the characters. He talks about their personalities and how they fit into the story. This information is important for me to know. Not only will it help to understand the story as a whole, but fill my plot section with character information and be more informed. This is the same Criticism I will use in my essay. The Criticism was based of bible passages and stories. The source is very short but has good information.

Although the source is only a few paragraphs it gave me information I need. The idea that Cask of Amontillado has ties to religion came up a number of times in my research. During Carnival, he asks Fortunato to follow him down to the catacombs to taste a cask of Amontillado that he had purchased. As they walk down to the wine there is a lot of irony between the two. When they reach the back and bottom of the crypt they climb over a short wall. Montresor then chains Fortunato to the wall. Next he finishes the wall between the two to trap Fortunato. There is a lot of good information in here seeing as how it is the story. This information can be used throughout the paper. There is a lot to work with here. It is the actual story so that means I will have a lot to go off of. This information can be used in every section of my paper.
