Hobby is a very good topic for task-based language teaching. On the basis of the textbook, a lot of hobby related words and phrases are
given to students, but the contents in the form of articles and conversations are not very authentic in the real world. I designed a
sequence of tasks for Part Two. First, I listed different hobbies to prime students for later activities. The collocation of verb-noun was the focus, such as , etc. Second, I explained what are sports hobby and art hobby, and asked students to classify these hobbies. Finally, I asked students to rank the hobbies to the easiest, most difcult, etc. ! During the discussion, I could hear English was used a lot by students. For the lower level students, using of English is not avoidable. But I should encourage them to use Chinese as much as possible.! In addition, I tried to adopt different corrective feedbacks in the class. For example, when students were hesitated to express their opinions, I gave them enough time and elicit them to speak out. ! In general, students were active and involved in the class. But there were a lot of aspects that I need to improve in order to apply taskbased teaching better and better for my future teaching career.!
