MYTHS AND LEGENDS

PICASSO MINOTAUR
Pablo Picasso is a Spanish painter, known as one of the greatest artists in the 20th century. He is quiet famous for his work on the Minotaur. I believe this drawing is effective because the Minotaur is colourless, and almost looks like a comic, and the naked women makes it look funny.

This image of the minotaur also looks like a comic. I think Picasso is trying to make the Minotaur look less evil as his horns are not as big and he does not look evil.

HOWARD DAVID JOHNSON

Howard David Johnsons work consists of photographs and paintings all in one. Here, he has taken a picture of a girl and painted a scene and then digitalised it after. I think this is very effective as it has that fantasy feel to it but with a real person. The lighting effects also make it look good as it gives it that sense of realism.

This image is similar to the last one as the same techniques are involved. An image has been manipulated and a scene has been painted in the background. The difference between this one and the previous one is that the girl and the tiger have not been blended in as well as the last one, but thats what makes Johnsons work great, as he mixes the two together to bring life to the scene.

ERULIA N
Erulians work had a combination of different contrasts. He uses light and dark contrasts to create a 3D object, in this case, a person. I like the way he has blended in the skin using different shades of the same colour and he has added texture to it to make it look like its real. The rays of light in front of a dark background makes it look like a fantasy image.

This image is similar to the last one with the colours he has used and the way he has blended in the skin again. The background is more brighter with less going on which keeps the focal point on the girl.

GONZALO ORDEZ ARIAS

The blue light in this piece reflects off the person and makes him stand out, giving him a shiny appearance. The dark shades in the background compliments the blue light.

The artist has focused a lot on the body of the creature in this piece by using different shades and different blending tools to make the skin look smooth. I think if there was no lighting in this picture the image would look dull, the glow on the fire makes it look realistic and the lighting on the water gives it a s

HERI IRAWAN
The colours in this picture are bold and strong, and when the lighting from the fire hits the horse the glow becomes very effective with the help of the black background.

The skin tone on the creature looks very realistic in this image. Irawan has used a combination of different brush strokes and filters to make the skin tone like its real. The artist has used the right shades to create a 3D effect on the skin from the light in the background, and I feel that without this the image would look flat.
