Many people claim that natural selection by itself explains evolution.

But natural selection says nothing about why atoms form in the rst place, from utter chaos; it does not explain why cells form in the rst place; it does not account for how life is so incredibly persistent or pervasive as it is, being found in boiling water, the deep ocean, frozen mountain peaks, under glaciers, in the upper atmosphere; it does not account for the yearning for life; it does not account for the struggles living things bear; it does not account for the suffering individuals will bear to help others; It does not account for love or the fullness of experience, as widely experienced; it does not account for the fact that, at the deepest level, all

life is one, and knows it. It does not explain how advanced civilizations are able to pull together, and overcome the selshness that is destroying them.

There is an awefully lot more behind evolution than just natural selection.
