Chat Tool To conduct the chat we used (give the name of the tool you used): Morgan and I chose to use Skype to chat. Although we did not use Google+ to chat, we also used Google Doc so that we could both interactively make changes and re-write each NETs-T. Positives of this chat tool were: Although Morgan and I both have used Skype before, one thing I liked the most about Skype is that it has a mobile app. This allowed us to Skype on our iPads and to use Google Doc on our laptops. It was also very easy to hear Morgan. The microphones worked very well, and I didnt need to raise my voice in order to be heard. There was very little drag on our video streaming, so we were able to continuously work without any comment and/or suggestion being lost in translation. I believe Skype is very easy to use whether you are a beginner or an expert. The icons are very familiar; for example, the video icon is for a video call and the phone icon is for a phone call. The main function of Skype is to voice or video chat. Because of this, I find Skype very easy to use because it doesnt have an overwhelming amount of features that could

confuse a novice. Finally, Skype can be used for both domestic and international chat sessions, allowing people to connect from all over the world. Negatives of using this chat tool were: I cannot think of too many negatives for Skype. A couple of times during our chat session, one of our apps would crash. This would cause us to lose connection and would take time away from completing our assignment. If someone were to use Skype in a classroom to connect with another classroom, having the app crash would lose a lot of precious time. Another issue with the connection is that if you lose internet connection, then you cannot chat and again will lose time. Although this is not Skypes fault and it is the only way to connect with other computers, it does cause some issues. One time during our Skype session, I lost internet connection for almost five minutes, which caused some delay. Another negative to Skype is that although we didnt experience poor video streaming, we did have some voice lag. It didnt affect the conversation or our progress on the assignment, but I did find it annoying to be able to hear myself on Morgans end and on my end of the connection.
