Mapping
1. Create a map of the room including seating 2. Map where you stand as you interact with students and where the interactee is at the other end. 3. Map the line you travel in a given period of time (use color coding, dotted and dashed lines, and arrows)

Time to Respond
Ask a question of the whole class. Time how long you are willing to wait for a student to respond. Time the length you wait for:
3 children who are high achievers 3 children who are low achievers

Use a stop watch. Compare the lengths of time to see if there is a difference.

For next week

Try one of these forms of collecting data to help you reframe student response in your classroom. Collect data on yourself or ask someone to collect data about you. Think About It: Write a page on what this tells you about your teaching. What does it mean? What will you do more of? What will you do less of? How can you use this data in your planning? What is being reframed as a result of this data?
