Rob Gilchrist TWS 6 Analysis of Student Learning Data on Whole Class: The table below shows the data

I collected before, during, and after my Showcase Lesson. My objective for this lesson was: When given a clock, 85% of students would be able to correctly tell the time by the nearest five minutes and know the difference between a.m. and p.m.

Know
The difference between day (AM) hours and night (PM) hours The three main parts of the day (Morning, Noon, & Night)

Want to know
What do you think of when you hear the word time? How to tell time by the half-hour.

Learned
What are your favorite activities to do during certain times of the day?* The two types of clocks (Analog & Digital)

To summarize, my data showed that the students understood what the objective for the lesson was and how to think about and answer critical thinking questions about time. *What the Students Learned Through the Critical Thinking Question The students learned how to think critically and write about their favorite time of day (Morning, noon, or night) and write down what they enjoy doing during that time. Here are a few examples of their answers: a) My favorite time of day is at night, because I get to watch TV and play video games with my brother. b) My favorite time of day is morning, because I eat a big breakfast and read the newspaper with my Mom. c) My favorite time of day is afternoon, because I like to play baseball with my friends at the park. Results on Three Individual Students When I examined the data for my low-achieving student, the pre-assessment showed a sense of eagerness and was interested in the lesson topic. During the lesson, the student was having some issues with keeping up and having the right answers in the correct questions. The postassessment showed that the issues during the lesson were corrected and the student had all the answers done correctly and understood/followed all parts of the KWL Chart for the lesson. When I examined the data for my middle-level student, the pre-assessment showed that the student also showed a sense of enthusiasm and interest in the topic. During the lesson, the student had problems having the correct answer for a few of the questions and had to be shown how to answer them correctly. The post-assessment showed that the student also understood/followed all parts of the KWL Chart for the lesson. When I examined the data for my high-achieving student, the pre-assessment showed a sense of anticipation and a strong interest in the topic. During the lesson, the student answered all the questions correctly without any issues/misunderstandings with the questions that were asked. The post-assessment showed the student has a strong knowledge and understanding of the subject/ topic and followed all parts KWL Chart for the lesson. It is important to understand the learning of these particular students because all students learn at a different pace and may or may not need assistance when doing the assignments/lessons. Attached are examples of the three students work on the lesson.
