SEPTA
In Philadelphia SEPTA is a popular form of transporta9on. In order to

use SEPTA people can either purchase tokens or buy a monthly pass.

Weekly Pass: $24.00

Monthly Pass: $91.00
Tokens: $1.80 per token
If you are buying tokens at what point does it become more cost

ecient to buy a weekly or a monthly pass than buying individual

tokens? Work in groups to create two dierent inequality equa9ons.
One for weekly passes and one for monthly passes.

SEPTA
If you are buying weekly passes at what point does it become

more cost ecient to buy a a monthly pass? Work in your same

groups to come up with an inequality equa9on.

If you are buying a monthly pass at what point does it become

more cost ecient to buy a combina9on of tokens and weekly

passes? Think of the various inequali9es you can come up with.
Hint: Think of the cost of the following
1 weekly pass and tokens
2 weekly passes and tokens
3 weekly passes and tokens

purchase. The 2 GB plans costs $30 a month and charges

customers $10 for every GB they go over. The 5 GB plan costs
$50 dollars and also charges customers $10 for every GB they
go over. At what point is it more cost eec9ve for a customer to
purchase the 5 GB plan instead of the 2 GB plan?
