- Natural gas is a mixture of gases, mostly methane (CH4).

Natural gas can be pressurized and cooled to create Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) to be transported. - When oil deposits are too remote for a pipeline to collect natural gas, then the gas is burned off on site as a waste product of oil production. - Over 75% of the World's Shale Oil is in the United States. - Shale oil is obtained from bituminous shale. - Oil is a fossil fuel produced when heat and pressure act on decayed organic matter over millions of years. Oil consists of hydrocarbons with small amounts of sulfur, Oxygen (O3), and nitrogen. *Advantages of using Oil: -Little land disruption in mining process. -High net energy -Domestically available *Charcoal is a porous black solid, consisting of an amorphous form of carbon, obtained as a residue when wood, bone, or other organic matter is heated in the absence of air. A biomass Fuel that used for cooking & heating - Coal - A precursor is a compound that participates in the chemical reaction that produces another compound. -The four types of Coal are: - Anthracite - Bituminous - Subbituminous -Lignite *Peat is a precursor to coal. *Peat is formed in wetlands bogs. *Composed of partially decayed plant material.
