COA is always in need of volunteers. We have a wide variety of programming, of f ered during dif f erent days and times, so volunteers with a variety of skills and schedules are needed, stated Laura Lysagh, the donor and volunteer coordinator at COA Youth and Family Center. Programs needing volunteers include Early Education and Childcare, GED and Adult Basic Education, Family Support Services, Youth Development, Camp, Health andWellness, and more. COA stands f or Childrens Outing Association. COA has two main locations: 909 East Garf ield Street, located near Kilbourn Park in the Riverwest area, and 2320 West Burleigh Street on the north side of Milwaukee. T he steps to getting involved in this organization are quite simple. Go onto COAs website and click getting involved and the volunteer tab. T his intake f orm must be completely f illed out and submitted to Lysagh f or review and placement. Volunteers must submit to a background check and attend the volunteer orientation. Af ter that theyre ready to begin making a dif f erence in Milwaukee! said Lysagh. Several past volunteers with COA decided to take an internship, and some have even became COA staf f members. COAs volunteers are able to gain f irst-hand experience with the organization and make connections along the way. Supervisors of ten dont mind providing a letter of recommendation to help f uture job opportunities. Lysagh also gave advice f or people who are interested in the non-prof it sector: T here are many areas of opportunity in the non-prof it sector, and I would encourage students to get as much experience as possible in order to decide if this is the right career path. Volunteer, complete an internship, or take a class in non-prof it management in order to gain experience. Network with your peers, prof essors, and career center to f ind opportunities. Consider joining a networking group like the YNPN Young Nonprof it Prof essionals Network to make connections and learn more about careers in non-prof it.

Taking the time to volunteer f or your community could be a wonderf ul f eeling. As a college student, it can be hard sometimes to f ind time to volunteer. COA is an example of a great organization that is willing to work with your schedule. Sometimes its the smallest moments that make a big impact, so start volunteering today. Restaurant Review: Chipotle

Filed under Restaurants Restaurant Review: Chipotle

Chipotle is a Mexican grill of f ering gourmet burritos and tacos. I went to the location on South 27th Street across f rom Walgreens. T his location is not only convenient f or campus commuters, but residents also. On the outside, a huge sign says Chipotle in red which made me want to see what they served. When pulling into the parking lot, I immediately noticed that their parking lot was kind of small. I instantly started to think about how busy do they get and what do they do then. Besides the parking lot, the outside of the restaurant was nice and simple. T his gave me an idea that maybe the concept of the restaurant was simplicity. When I entered, I was blasted with welcoming hellos f rom all the employees.. T heir menu was simply laid out and the serving style was available f or you to see, but made by the employees. I knew exactly what I wanted when I walked in, and it was a burrito bowl. T he burrito bowl is just a bowl without the burrito shell. You have the options to get the burrito wrap on the side, but you dont have to. Af ter I decided on a bowl, they asked would I like white or brown rice and I chose brown. I liked the f act that they had an option like brown or white rice f or people who are trying to eat healthier when eating out. I ended up with brown rice, chicken, lettuce, and a corn salsa. I decided to eat in to see how their environment was. Everyone that came in received a loud hello f rom the employees. I was appreciative of that, but it kind of made it hard f or me to hear what some people were saying to me. I liked the f act that everyone was so welcoming and happy. I think that made the environment worthwhile. Patio tables were available f or warmer weather. T he environment was good and I was looking f orward to the taste of the f ood. When I took my f irst bite, I absolutely thought the combination that I picked was a great blend of f lavors. My f avorite part of my meal was the corn salsa. I loved how the corn salsa tasted, including a hint of onions.

If I were asked about whether I would come back our not, I would come back. If I were to rate Chipotle, I would give them a ten. T hey give you a large portion of f ood f or a reasonable price. I also noticed that Alverno has chipotle BOGO days where you can buy, f or example, a burrito and get one f or f ree. I liked that a lot of options were available, including vegetarian options. I think this is f amily f riendly environment and this would be a nice place to go to try something new.
