STATEMENT OF PROBLEM/SUB-PROBLEMS
MAIN PROBLEMS WHY IS IT IMPORTANT TO INVESTIGATE BULLYING? BULLYING PROBLEMS ARE BECOMING A PROBLEM IN SCHOOLS THERE IS A NEED FOR DEVELOPING MORE EFFECTIVE PROGRAMS SUB-PROBLEMS FEAR OF DISCLOSURE-STUDENTS, STAFF, AND PARENTS ACCOUNTABILITY MAY PREVENT PARTICIPATION FROM SOME SCHOOLS SOME PREVENTATIVE PROGRAMS ARE MAKING BULLYING INCREASE SCHOOLS UNWILLING TO CHANGE/ADAPT
ASSUMPTIONS
Bullying is a problem in schools Bullying is being currently researched Bullying needs further addressing Current methods of prevention are ineffective Finding willing participants will be in abundance
IMPORTANCE OF RESEARCH
WHY DOES BULLYING NEED TO BE INVESTIGATED FURTHER?
#1
Bullies learn from other bullies and until adults address their behaviors and learn to self-evaluate to discover biases or negative behaviors, the problem will remain unnoticed or ignored.
#2
If the teachers are reporting lack of knowledge on what to do with bullying situations then the result could be continued victimization of children in schools. Teachers should be trained heavily on bullying, considering the harmful psychological effects that could arise on the victim and on the bully themselves.
#3
Plus, it is evident it is the schools responsibility to protect children from bullying, and in fact, schools can be negligent when bullying continues unnoticed or unaddressed.
Methodology
Ex post facto research is desired Case study research is also desired Ethnographical study would be very beneficial if possible prior to research Feedback is huge in this proposal to gather related information to start the project Surveys and interviews will be imperative for the study Agreements or contracts will be used for volunteering participants
METHODOLOGY CONTINUED
Volunteer samples will be used to gather data Representative samples will be used (who is affected by the research) Using students as a group and in teams will benefit outcomes in developing student surveys and perceptions Only experts in behavioral analysis will be used to interview and/or observe, along with overseeing analysis of results collected Research experts will protect privacy and confidentiality
