Purpose: My major is advertising so researching how advertisements affect people in terms of their self-image, self-esteem and how it leads to eating disorders. Preliminary Thesis/Argument: Advertisements affect people with their idea of perfection causing people to have a lower self-esteem and even be a reason so many Americans have eating disorders. Intended audience: Fellow first year advertising majors. Types of research areas: I will do Internet research, journal research and field research. Kinds of sources I will use and why they will benefit my paper: I plan on having a balanced variety of sources. They will help strengthen the arguments and points in my paper by providing clear evidence to whatever point I am trying to make. I plan on talking to someone in my professional field as well as using credible Internet sources. Graphs or charts: I may or may not use graphs or charts. I will have to figure it out when I am further into my research.
