!tep 4# %nstructional !trategies @ 'earning &ctivities - !pecify the procedures that will be used to implement the activity plan (-E+%+0 -&nticipatory !et )ime# 4-1 minutes " Aand out suckers to students and ask them what % 4ust handed them besides 4ust a sucker )ell the students % handed them a noun 2 &sk students B*an anyone tell me what a noun is=C &fter defining noun ask for e9amples )hen ask students B*an anyone tell me what a proper noun is=C )hen again ask for e9amples 3 )ell students this is what will be practicing today and hopefully help students understand nouns and proper nouns better $(DD E -rocedures E 7hat will you say and do= )ime# 21 minutes " &fter the opening, hand out the first worksheet B*ommon vs -roper +ounsC E9plain the directions to the student )he directions are to read each sentence, after reading go back and underline the common nouns, and circle the proper nouns !ome of the sentences will contain more than 4ust one common noun and one proper noun, so make sure they find all of them within the sentence 7hile students are working on this % will walk around helping students if they need me 2 (nce the front side is competed tell students that they can then move on to the back of the worksheet (n the back is where they get to identify 1 common nouns, and 1 proper nouns that can found within the classroom )his is a chance for students to move around the classroom, and interact with classmates during this activity )ell students they can partner up with someone if they want and complete this activity )ell student that they should only be looking for certain ob4ects, or words that could be common or proper nouns, and there is no touching or hands on play during this free time 5&!.6 3 *heck the students work after it is completed, then hand them the final activity 4 )he final activity students do is receive a blank four leaf shamrock where students will write two proper nouns, and two common nouns on the leafs of the shamrock % will tell the students that each noun should have some connection to their life weather it be there favorite place, someone special in their life, or anything that could connect to them in some way % will tell students that after writing all four nouns they can decorate their shamrock however they would likeF *'(!U.E )ime# 3-4 minutes

" *losing the lesson, again % will ask student the diffeence between common nouns and proper nouns 2 )ell the students today we reviwed proper nouns and common nouns, and give e9amples of each *ommon noun# hat, shirt, ring, bread or chicken wings proper nouns# Gessica, +orthside Elementary, *hipotle 3 )ell the students to take home the work we did today and finish it if it did not get completed

!tep 1# .esearch @ )heory - E9plain how child development and;or learning theory influenced your activity design :or the opening of this lesson % wanted to gain the students attention early, and have some fun $y passing out the suckers and asking them what % handed them besides 4ust a sucker could through the students off, and get them to think % then go on to tell them that it is a noun and that is the main idea of our lesson today % want to know if any of my students already know what a noun is so by asking students to define a noun, or a proper noun, and giving e9amples is my way of seeing what some students my already know )his lesson is 4ust a practice for students so it is okay if some students already have a good understanding between common nouns and proper nouns (n the other hand % may have a student who will benefit from this leson and hopefully gain some new knowledge )he theme of our lesson was based around B% !pyC &t first % wanted to incorporate pronouns in with the lesson as well because B%C is a pronouns, but % felt it could have gotten to confusing and difficult to e9plain in a short activity )hen % 4ust focused of common nouns vs proper nouns % incorportated the % spy theme where students have to find the common nouns or proper nouns within a sentence, and also where they had to search around the classroom to come up with five each 7hen students are working on the the worksheet % will be walking around asessing, or helping those students who are having difficulties % made some of the sentnces more challenging then others because % have a range of students from 3-1 grade +ot being certain on what the grade level will be is why % made some sentences more challenging then others 7hen students are working on the back of the worksheet % encourage them to socialize with a classmate, or walk around the room )his is an e9ample of HygotskyIs social development theory % wanted to incorporate social, and adult guidence in this lesson because % think this is a helpful way for kids to learn 7hen it comes to the shamrock activity % wanted to use the shamrock because this lesson will be presented around !t -atricks Day, this was why % chose to incorproate that in with the theme During this activity % also wanted to incorporate the students real life with the lesoon, that is why % made sure the four nouns they come up with have some relevence to their life %n teaching you want to have three core considerations which are age appropriate lessons, individually appropriate, and socially;culturally sppropriate )hrough engaging students own self with the lesson could help them make connections and feel incorporated with the lesson )his activity was also a way for students to have more fun and have a take away from our lesson Aaving the students decorate their shamrock gives them the rela9ing, fun time which kids should have when learning %ncoporating cooperative learning during this lesson is also helpful for students social engagement )he close in this lesson is 4ust my way of e9plaining to students what we did today and reminding them of the main idea Defining common noun, and proper noun, and again by giving students e9amples of each is my way of ending the disscusion % also want to make sure students take home all the work they did with me that day or finish it if they did not compete any work
