Parent Corner: Time is just flying by! Can you believe that there is only 6 weeks left of school? This week we are starting our last math unit on time and graphing. One way that you can support your child is to talk about the times your family usually does activities (i.e. dinner at 6:15, bath at 7:30, etc.). Have them tell you how many minutes until specific activities. This can be a challenging concept for many 2nd graders, so any help you can give them is fantastic. We are also continuing our foray into the mystery genre. We have some amazing detectives in our class. This week students will start reading within their mystery book clubsIm excited to see the great detective work they will do with their texts. This week we will also be starting our last writers workshop unitpoetry! This will be a great way to end the school year. The Hall of Heros is scheduled for May 5th. The evening event will be from 5:30-6:15. The work for the project is primarily being done in class. Only if your child does not complete the project in school will there be a home component. They will need to bring their costume for their hero next Monday and they will change into the costume after lunch (just as they did for the Halloween carnival). The more thought and time spent making the costume realistic or representative of their hero, the more the audience will be engaged with the presentation. Important Dates:

May 5th: Hall of Heros Presentations, 5:30 pm May 26th: Memorial Day, No School As always, if you have questions, please do not hesitate to contact me via email mrs.sakai4@gmail.com or by calling the school at 310-274-4831.
