A BOUT U S
Positive Avenues is a program of Lutheran Social Services (LSS) of Wisconsin and Upper Michigan, Inc. that is dedicated to organizing communities. Positive Avenues provides services and resources to adults related to mental health, homelessness, and other basic needs. Positive Avenues was formed in 1998 when LSS took over management of the program. The program originally began in the 1980s and had served as a day treatment center for the Eau Claire County Department of Human Services. It was later managed by a consumer group called New Horizons. Today, Positive Avenues is funded by Eau Claire County, United Way, grants, and private donors.

W HAT W E D O
Positive Avenues is a unique program in that it provides a safe haven for guests during daytime hours. Much of the dayto-day functions are managed by welltrained staff, student interns, and volunteers. Positive Avenues offers: A safe environment Recreational and social activities We help members learn important relationship skills through various activities. Nutritious hot meals Emotional support Certified Social Workers WI Certified Peer Specialist Volunteer opportunities for guests and other community members alike Vocational opportunities Assistance with resumes and job applications Advocacy and referrals We provide assistance in securing food, housing, financial, and other needs. Support is always available to help guests. Appropriate referrals are made to other collaborative agencies of health, legal, financial, and other resources. Case management Crisis stabilization

V OLUNTEER O PPORTUNITIES
Positive Avenues offers volunteer opportunities for guests and community members alike. Possible volunteer opportunities include: Mental health groups Life skills groups Recreational activities on site Field trips Mentoring in computer basics, resume building, and art Custodial assistance If you are interested in volunteering for Positive Avenues, please contact us for more information!
