Title of Lesson: Yummy Bunny Total Time: 30 minutes
I. Objectives: The children will eat a variety of nutritious foods by eating the snacks the created. o Skill Physical Development and Health o Domain Physical Development and Health o Domain Element Health Knowledge and Practice
The children will recognize how books are read, such as front-to-back and one page at a tie, and recognizes basic characteristics, such s title, author, and illustrator by participating in storytelling experience. o Skill Language and Literacy o Domain Literacy Knowledge and Skills o Domain Element Book Appreciation and Knowlege
The children will distinguish healthy and unhealthy foods by participating in a storytelling experience. o Skill Physical Development and Health o Domain Physical Development and Health o Domain Element Health Knowledge and Practice
The children will use complex and varied vocabulary when describing their snack. o Skill Language and Literacy o Domain Language Development o Domain Element Expressive Language
II. Materials: Book: Yummy Bunny by Alloura Variety of cut up fruits (apples, pears, grapes, bananas, ect) Variety of cut up vegetables (carrots, celery, peppers, ect) 15 plates 15 pairs of gloves
III. Procedure: A. Motivation I will enter the carpet with the book Yummy Bunny by Alloura. I will introduce the book to the children. I will read the book to the children. I will have the children hop to their seats like Bobby bunny after they receive a wipe. B. Steps 1. I will have the children each put on the gloves at their seats. 2. I will remind the children that it is important o stay healthy and that we dont want to share our germs. By wearing gloves we are protecting the food from our germs so if e touch all of the food on the plate but only take one they dont all have our germs on it. 3. I will tell the children that we will be creating a Yummy Bunny just like the one Bobby bunnys mom made for him. 4. I will tell the children that they can use any combination of frits and vegetables to create a bunny face. 5. As the children finish I will have them stand up at their table and quietly tell the friends at their table what they used.
IV. Conclusion: I will have the children say their before snack prayer. I will have the children eat what they created.
V. Transition: The children will hop like a bunny.
VI. Follow-Up: 1. Have the children find short healthy and unhealthy foods to feed Bobby Bunny. 2. Have the children create deviled egg chicks for a snack.
VII. Evaluation/Assessment: 1. Did the children want to eat the nutritious foods? 2. Were the children able to recognize how a book is read? 3. Were the children able to distinguish between healthy and unhealthy food? 4. Were the children able to use complex and varied vocabulary when explaining their snack? Self Reflection: 1.
