RE: Mathematics teacher and/or special education teacher 7-12 (dual certified)
To Whom It May Concern:
Please accept this letter as application for a position as a mathematics teacher and/or special education teacher in your school district.
I will be graduating from Molloy College, an NCATE accredited school, where I am obtaining my Bachelors of Arts in mathematics secondary education and special education in May 2014. I am confident that my academic background and student teaching experience in general education, self-contained, and co-taught inclusion classes would be successfully utilized in this teaching position.
In addition to completing an undergraduate degree this year, I have attended multiple workshops and conferences to learn as much as I can about the new Common Core Curriculum. These events have helped me get a better grasp on new assessments, the modules, and the future of math education. As a student teacher, I create lessons that engage all learners, and incorporate SMART Board technology. I design discovery learning activities, and form cooperative learning groups for each lesson. I provide extra help in the morning for my students, and generate original worksheets, Do Nows and Exit Slips for my classes.
I recently presented at the Limacon conference, a Long Island Mathematics Conference on March 14, 2014 at SUNY Old Westbury. My presentation was based on research of the impact of iPads in the classroom, where I developed the idea of the perfect iPad application, one that meets the most content area needs of a teacher. My presentation was well attended and well received, and I look forward to further opportunities with the Limacon conference.
I am passionate about teaching adolescents, and working with them to help promote the cognitive skills and content knowledge that they will need for college and career readiness. I would appreciate the opportunity to meet with you to discuss how my skills and experience can meet the needs of your students. Thank you for your consideration.
