Word Processing Reflection
Lesson Idea 1
Grade Level: 3
rd

Subject: Science
Topic: Living and Non-Living Things
- In this activity students used a list of familiar items to create a T- Chart that categorized
objects as either living or non- living.

- I feel that T- Charts are beneficial to students because they allow them the opportunity to
separate things based on a specific idea or concept. T- Charts are also great because
students get the opportunity to apply what they have learned and distinguish things into
two groups based on specific criteria.
Lesson Idea 2
Grade Level: 3
rd

Subject: Science
Topic: Living Things
- In this activity students used the highlighter tool to highlight all of the living things
within a passage.

- The highlighter tool is resourceful because it allows students to highlight information that
they consider to be interesting or hard to understand. This tool also allows students the
opportunity to find important information quickly, without having to re-read the passage.

Topic: Estimation
In this lesson students were given a plastic bag filled with M&Ms. The students were asked to
guess how many of each color M&Ms were inside the bag. After the students made their
estimations they then counted the candy and recorded the actual amount for each color. Students
used Excel to create a spreadsheet that displayed their estimations, the actual amount, and
difference between their estimations and the actual amount.
Challenges that may occur
- Limited access to computers
- Students may have difficulties getting material to fit properly inside of spreadsheet
columns.
- Students who never used spreadsheet may not have enough time to finish the assignment.
- Students may be totally confused about what a spreadsheet is and need a tutorial before
beginning the activity.

Graphic Organizer Reflection
Grade: 6th
Subject: Social Studies
Topic: Civil Rights Movement
Students created a graphic organizer which displayed major events that occurred in the United
States during the Civil Rights Movement. The organizer was color coded to show how events
were directly related to one another.
I think that this tool would be very resourceful to students because it allows them to organize
information which also helps them gain a better understanding of the material.

Web Tools for Learning Project Reflection

Web Tool 1: Digital Photo book- Using a digital camera, images were taken at Wolf River
Trails. The images taken were uploaded to the Mixbook to create a digital photo book. This book
was about nature and protecting natural resources. It displayed the different precautions that
Tennessee is taken to help protects ducks, turtles, butterflies, and other animals.
Web Tool 2: Classroom Website: Using weebly I create a classroom webpage in which I titled
Ms. Joness Terrific Third Graders. On the site visitors are able to view the class homepage and
additional links such as; meet the teacher, parents letter, curriculum, grading scales, and a
calendar of events.
Web Tools Integration
One way I plan to integrate web tools in the classroom is by allowing students to use these tools
to create projects that displays their creativity. These tools will be also very useful when trying to
grasp students attention or make them excited about a difficult topic.
I can use web tools to support my professional growth by creating portfolios that allow future
employers and co-workers to view my professional talent and growth and my differential
instructional styles.

Overall Reflection
I believe that in todays society technology plays a significant role in the education
process. Teachers should use a variety of technological resources to help support instruction.
These resources also gives students better understanding of certain concept and will also prepare
them for this technical advanced society in which we live. I personally see technology in the
classroom equal to the standard instructional method. Teachers should utilize all instructional
strategies to ensure that every child is giving the opportunity to shine.
I think that learning should be fun and students should not be forced to learn material in
one particular way. As educators we have to allow students to display their talents in many ways.
We must also prepare students for demanding careers in which technology will play a major role.
It is my belief that if the same amount of time was spent on teaching technology instead of an
end of course exam students would be more open to learning and value their education.
This class has given me a broader outlook on technology and how to incorporate it in the
class. This class has also allowed me to created products that I never envisioned and helped me
understand why integrating technology into the learning process is necessary. Now that I have
more insight on how technology can be used in the class I feel better prepared to teach my
students these concepts.
