Can Violent Video Games Influence Violence

in South Korea?
Starting Out.
I personally believed video games had no affect at all on
the behaviors on people, specifically with violence.

I had a really a strong belief in this.

I thought that the research I was going to find would just
further prove my initial opinion.
What kinds of Video Games are
associated?
In South Korea there are many types of games played,
specifically games like League of Legends and Starcraft.

The amount of time played with these games are insane
and are extremely loved in South Korea and well
respected.
Another game worth mentioning that is popular among
kids is Grand Theft Auto.

Whats the big deal about these games?
According to my research, some South Koreans make
jobs out of these games.
These kids are playing these games professionally and
some are making more money than some average
Americans do in a year.
Kim Dong-hwan, a South Korean professional gamer,
has received a special U.S. visa, normally reserved for
baseball players and other athletes. (Yu).
How does this tie in with violence?
My research has shown that it is extremely hard to do full
experiments on this topic.
The attempts of research that has been done has not
proven that video games can induce violent behaviors in a
person.
However, the time these kids spend playing video games
can cause another problem.
These problems range from not focusing in school, not
spending time with family, and also hurting their health.
How does this tie in with violence?(cont)
In South Korea, PC Bangs are a big part in the society of
gamers. It is where kids go after school and play games
hours upon hours.
It has been recorded that deaths have happened in these
PC Bangs from kids playing too much and lack of sleep.
These kids are ruining their lives by playing too much.
Some of these young gamers can turn their love for video
games into a future job, however they are ruining any
chance of that by not managing their time well with other
activities and priorities.
After my research.
I concluded that my opinion of violent games influencing
violence is still the same, however I believe that video
games can harm ones family or themselves in a big way.
Even if they do not die, they still can harm their future or
any relationship they have.
Video games can be great fun for everyone, but if not
managed well and played in decent amounts, can be
extremely harmful.
