amendments to the US Constitution, Supreme Court decisions, legislation, and informal
practices.
14. Law and public policy are created and implemented by three branches of government; each
functions with its own set of powers and responsibilities.
15. The political process creates a dynamic interaction among the three branches of
government in addressing current issues.

Objectives
SWBAT: locate the correct slide in regards to the anticipation guide question.
SWBAT: construct the steps of the lawmaking process using the PowerPoint and the
School House Rock Just a Bill video.

Materials/Resources
AppleTV
Teacher iPad
Projector
Anticipation Guide
Anticipation Guide Answer Sheet
Steps for Bill to Law worksheet
Bill to Law PowerPoint
School House Rock Video
Writing Utensil
Students will need a red pen to correct their anticipation guides
Students will need to bring in their completed anticipation guides which was assigned for
homework.

Instructional Procedures
Upon entry, students will get out their completed anticipation guides and a red pen.
While the students are arriving, the teacher will take attendance.
Teacher will then project the Anticipation Guide answer document up from the
iPad/AppleTV.
Teacher will then go over the answers in detail, making sure each student
understands where the information is, and what it is. 5-10 Minutes.
Teacher will then collect the students anticipation guide for further analysis/
grading.
Teacher will then play the School House Rock Video 3 Minutes.

While the video is playing, teacher will hand out the steps for bill-to-law
worksheet
After the video, the teacher will instruct the students to use the PowerPoint and the video
to figure out the steps of the lawmaking process - with a partner. 15-20 Minutes.
The last 10 Minutes of class, teacher will instruct and guide the students through the
lawmaking process. Showing them each of the steps in the process and explaining what
goes on.
Teacher will then have the students brainstorm some ideas they would like to try to turn
into a law.
Come into class with that idea tomorrow.

Students with visual impairments are seated at the front of the room.
